David Kato

David Kato was one of Uganda's leading pro-rights activists until he was murdered in January 2011, aged just 42.

His murder followed a campaign in the country's national newspaper Rolling Stone, publishing the faces of suspected homosexuals and urging the public to 'hang them'.

The Ugandan newspaper that last year called for the hanging of gay activist David Kato who was murdered on Wednesday, said it had no regrets about its story.

You can find David Kato's memorial page on Facebook.

Interesting that a month after Kato's death, renowned anchorman Vincent Makori appeared to be suggesting that David Kato may not have been murdered. It's not all that common for people to accidentally bludgeon themselves to death.
