Rebecca Kadaga in Hot Oil

[UPDATE 12th Jan. 2013: MPs blame Kadaga, chief whip for oil debate chaos.]

Parliamentary Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga, who last month said that the bill would pass by 2013 as a 'Christmas present' to the Ugandan people, now finds herself facing a slapped botty.

Cabinet has blamed the chaos which engulfed Parliament last week on what they say was Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s failure to follow procedures in handling of the oil debate. The ministers’ position during last Wednesday’s special sitting could set the Legislative and Executive arms of government on a new collision course as a fresh contest over separation of powers looms.

This is the same fracas in which David Bahati, inventor of the Kill the Gays bill, was also embroiled.

Both upstanding models of decorum and political diplomacy, obviously.

Due to the chaos, discussions on the Kill the Gays Bill have been set back, so I guess we should thank them for giving us more time to protest.
